Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare will be closing all services of COVID-19 Testing Center for Overseas Travelers (TeCOT) by the end of September.
Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare launched COVID-19 Testing Center for Overseas Travelers (TeCOT) in October 2020, in order to ensure the testing capacity for business travelers living in Japan, since securing the domestic testing capabilities has become the urgent issue due to the impact of COVID-19, and various countries had started to require business entrants to present a pre-departure inspection certificate as an entry requirement.
More than one year has passed since the establishment of TeCOT, the domestic testing capabilities and private services for the inspection certificate has become well-expanded and well-provided for travelers, thanks to the medical institution officials and private enterprises.
Based on the deliberation by the 12th TeCOT management committee, after ensuring a certain transition period, we will close all TeCOT services on Friday September 30th, 2022.
